"Brothers and Sisters, I don't know what this world is comin' to...."

deleting wiki pages of one of the most " enormously influential" ambient artists is both laughable and sad. I hope that the 5 dollars I donated to them to keep them afloat will allow them to gain some perspective on the "value" of Wikipedia.

Hi - I'm the person who wrote the Repurpose article and had it deleted whilst working on it. It annoyed me hugely at the time, as - as noted above - this page and the Woob page were both deleted on the grounds of a lack of significance, yet were described elsewhere on Wikipedia as being of importance. I was also annoyed because the article - even the short version I was planning to post - took time.

I'm glad this looks like it's going to be sorted out. I was a latecomer to Woob's work - I first heard Woob 4495 a few years back, and the first Woob album and, indeed, much of the rest of em:t's output, Gas included, might well have passed me by if it wasn't for Wikipedia. Which only makes this decision all the more inexplicable. What is an encyclopedia for if not to disseminate information?

This is one of those uniquely "internet" annoyances - getting into an argument with a total stranger on Facebook etc is another - which though minor are apt to provoke the most extreme fury! I can see that Wikipedia might regularly be bombarded with unmerited entries for new bands desperate to make a mark, but this is different. This is an artist who produced a "classic ambient album" that's proved to be "enormously influential". And those aren't my words - they're Wikipedia's.

If we are deleting artist pages on the grounds of a lack of significance, however, can someone please delete the Nickelback one?!

Sure it is quite weird... my friend thinks it may be a mistake among a big cleanup of pages.

Have a great day.

Hi Vincent,

You're right, it looks like things are moving.

It already fulfills rule A7 btw. In SchuminWeb's comments -anything, even an unverifiable claim for importance will fulfill rule A7- It already had this for the past four years.

Also, deleting articles as they were being written is not really helping.

I'm sure your friend is right, but by their own rules it's not needed.

Hello again (sounds like an old Cars' hit :)) !

It seems that things are going to be fixed : APB-CMX user had a discussion with SchuminWeb about that and the page wil be restored as soon as APB-CMX will modify it to fulfill rule A7.
By the way, Stephane my Geek collegue insists on the fact that the more articles in wikipedia have external referencies (reviews from medias, blogs, to show how important the subject is) the less trouble are expected (not sure that's correct english...).

Let's hope it will be a short time before all of that will be over.

Regards from France.

I thought the beauty of Wikipedia was that it was an attempt to be a website about EVERYTHING. Guess I was wrong.
