Thanks for your support Vincent, let us know what you think of the EP…

  11. beno . January 15, 2010 3:18 pm

would you call this a concept album/ ep?

all the tracks work brilliantly together and theres a theme running through it all - nasa’s voyager.

and then there’s the climax of ’sounds of earth’ - very cool to leave the best track till last.

    :-)

    Hi Jah and Vincent,
thanks for your orders, let us know what you think of the EP and the t-shirts.

@beno thanks! Yes it is a kind of concept album, and it was written for all the tracks to work together as a whole rather than a collection of tracks.

Hello from the cold North East of France,

I can’t tell anything about the T-shirts for I’ve not received them for now… Let’s hope there isn’t a problem with the delivery !

Concerning the EP, well… it’s not that bad… no I’m kidding, it’s great : it really works as a whole journey that the audience lives step by step.

Track one set the mood with the sample from the Golden Record as an introduction.
Track two (quite well-known for the players of the Osmos game) seems to send us in outer space, watching Nebulae and Galaxies…
Track three is the second articulation (using samples too) which announces the calm and quite happy evolutions of track four.
Track five could be the final transition (again with samples) to the masterpice of the project : track six.

Sound oh the earth is one of those few tracks you can endless play looped, as the atmosphere created is powerfull, especially thanks to the Off-beat drum-bass setting the rythm while the synthbrass reminds us that Deckard is not far ! The only default is that track has an end !

As usual everything (sound design, levels, effects, …) is set with subtlety… great job and great experience.
    Thank you.

The booklet is up to the level of the EP, meticulous design simple and so effective.

    HI Vincent,

Thanks for taking the time to post a review, I;m glad you like it, and the booklet!

We had a slight hold-up but the t-shirts and Minimoogs have started shipping now, so you should receive them soon. Thanks for your patience Vincent!

Cheers from the cold heart of England!

    Hello,

I’m happy to hear good news from the t-shirts, I can’t hardly wait for them !
Concerning my post, I hope it doesn’t sound pretentious (that was not my intention) and I hope it matches a little the conept, I’m not used to that kind of exercise :)

    Regards from snow-covered Lorraine !

PS: Two tracks have titles in french, can we know why ?

  16. Microscopics . February 4, 2010 1:30 pm

    Hello Vincent,

Nope, doesn’t sound pretentious at all. It’s good to be visual with your imagery.

French is a very poetic language, and there are several French language samples in the tracks too…

    Cheers Vincent

    Hello,

    Thanks.
About the t-shirts, are they sent fron UK or from US ?
It is just to have an idea of the delivery’s date. (not sure it is correct english…).
By the way I’ve noticed the french smaples especially the excerpt of poetry ! Nice integration.

    Cheers.

  18. Microscopics . February 4, 2010 2:07 pm

The t-shirts are sent from the UK, so may take about a week.

BTW ‘The Earth at Night’ was also going to be titled in French too but was changed at the last minute.

  19. Mike . February 5, 2010 5:27 pm

Thanks for the kind words about the album and the new EP, glad you like them
Pleased the Minimoog is being displayed on the quality hifi too!

Many thanks for the feedback and have a great weekend!

  22. Vincent . February 8, 2010 1:27 pm

    Hello !

I’ve just received the t-shirts today : they look great, and in addition there is a papercraft quite different from the minimoog : I’ll see that tonight, but I’m already sure that it will stand beside the minimoog on my old JX3P :)

Cherrs from the cloudy Lorraine, France.

  23. Microscopics . February 16, 2010 12:59 pm

    Hi Vincent,
great glad you like them, and the extra model. Will look very good on a JX3P!

    Cheers from another cloudy country.

  24. Vincent . February 16, 2010 1:14 pm

    Hello !

    Thanks.
Just one qustion concerning the t-shirts : was it impossible to print with another technique, I mean without PVC or that kind of plastic material ?
    I don’t want to be anoyying, just know… :)

Cheers from the sunny (yes it is !) Lorraine.

  25. Microscopics . February 16, 2010 2:01 pm

    HI Vincent,

It’s not PVC, it’s called plastisol and is the most opaque, durable, thick and high quality ink for t-shirts. There is another ink called process colour, but it’s quite transparent and thin, so you won’t get the strong colours we needed.
    Don’t you like the ink?

    Sunny/ cloudy now…

  26. Vincent . March 1, 2010 3:58 pm

    Hi,

Yes, especially on the GAS model (my only criticism on the High Skies’ one is that the design is quite discreet), anyway both are excellent and quality t-shirts !

    Cheers

  27. Microscopics . March 4, 2010 9:26 am

Hi Vincent, thanks for the feedback.
We like to hear if people do or don’t like the site, t-shirts, music etc and how they can be improved.

Yes the High Skies t-shirt is quite subtle, which we like as it’s a contrast with the Gas tee.

We looked initially at replicating the Sounds of Earth cover, but although simple is actually quite hard to do as it’s almost one big gradient, which t-shirts find hard to do. So to have strong colours and not be too blocky would have taken at least 8 colours, which would have doubled the t-shirt cost.

We are looking at ways around it, but as we don’t make any money on t-shirt sales it may not be for some time.

    Thanks Vincent
