Osmos: Ambient Gaming
UPDATE
Osmos has been released, we have copies to give away in our free draw.
This is the first game from Hemisphere Games. Osmos.
Enter the ambient world of Osmos: elegant, physics-based game play, dreamlike visuals, and a minimalist, electronic soundtrack.
Your objective is to grow by absorbing other motes. Propel yourself by ejecting matter behind you. But be wise: ejecting matter also shrinks you. Relax… good things come to those who wait.
Progress from serenely ambient levels into varied and more challenging worlds. Confront attractors, repulsors and intelligent motes with similar abilities and goals as you.
Congratulations to Hemisphere who have just been nominated for three awards for Osmos at this years IGF, in categories for Excellence in Design, Technical Excellence and the overall Grand Prize.
We highly recommend you try it for yourself. It’s one of those rare games that is original and addictive, plus an ambient soundtrack (including Gas and High Skies), and there’s a free alpha version to try (Windows). Download Osmos now.

Awesome game. I’ve now played the demo to death ;).
Strangely, one of the most ambient games I’ve ever played was Freelancer. Once you’d completed the silly plot, you could just cruise around the trade lanes, taking in the ambient vibes…
