Long Lost Gas / High Skies Remix

A long lost Gas / High Skies remix once thought extinct has been found in an old attic. It’s been dusted off and released on the great new Charles Webster 3xCD album.

Lo;Rise – Observer (High Skies mix) (download mp3 preview)

Originally recorded in the late 90s, it’s a dark downtempo remix with lo-fi electronics over an inexorable drum machine, backing the child-like voice of Sara Jay (Massive Attack). Lo;Rise are legendary house DJ Charles Webster (Presence, Furry Phreaks, Symetrix (Emit) etc) and Sara Jay (Massive Attack). Mat has previously worked with Charles and Sara for many years on various projects…

Press Release…

Charles Webster is the producer’s producer, the dj’s dj. He has sold over 100,000 albums without ever being considered ‘mainstream’…he has toured the world with a full (genuinely) live band…he has also DJ’ed worldwide, playing regularly in every continent, without ever having had the need to be feted by the dance media as a flavour of the month… he is comfortable making music at any tempo, straddles numerous genres with ease…bloody hell, he even writes his own songs. Charles Webster, respect, as they say, is due.

This new compilation is an eclectic and intelligent non stop mix of spine tingling tracks, after all it features Brian Eno, Tom Waits and The Cranberrys. You will adore and revisit this album many times.

This is a 3 CD package with 3 very different mixes showcasing all the best characteristics of Mr Webster’s music.

CD 1 is the most uptempo of the selection with ultimate classics like Kings of Tomorrow – Changes, Rosie Gains – Closer than Close, and Moody Man – I Can’t Kick This Feeling When it Hits.

CD2 is melodic to the extreme; it is a tremendously laid back and relaxed mix that would be perfect for anyone having a post club chill out session. Featuring tracks by Eno, Plaid and Steve Reich.

CD3 is the key. It is 12 of Charles very own productions, displaying his musical ability. It includes his latest Furry Phreaks creation ‘All Over The World’ with Terra Deva (the super talented and beautiful vocalist from New York).

People love Charles. DJs love him for making their jobs easier…producers love him for the inspiration he provides…his loyal fanbase love him because they can trust him to deliver time & again. Twenty odd years in the game and Charles has the RESPECT of several generations of music lovers.

@ BiL: Yes I’ve heard it on the radio a few times over the years too. I love it!. Sounds slightly different than I remember, I wonder if there’s more than one mix?
Excellent tune though. I’m a big fan of Mat and CW, so I’ve already ordered my copy.

Absolutely wonderful. I will cherish this track and listen to it with sublime hope. Mat Jarvis you hit the nail on the head once again.. with your track ‘Burning Buildings’ by your High Skies moniker (and it is also a stunning track btw) I am thrilled that this ‘lost’ track must crop up amongst this compilation.

Best of the best Mat. Cheers!
